Re: No Grains/No Sugars Support Group!!

This weekend, I was in Tallahassee with friends who don't understand Crossfit or my diet at all and I didn't cheat!! I think today is day 9 of no sugar for me. And I also challenged 3 guys to push up contests and won! (well, I tied one, but we were both laughing too hard to take it seriously.) I also discovered that Buffalo Wild Wings makes grilled chicken strips!! Brilliant. I wish we had one of them around here.

My typical day:
Workout 6:30 (MWF) 7:30 (T,H)
2 cups of 1% milk post WOD
Breakfast: 2 eggs, 1 egg white, 1/2 c steel cut oatmeal, apple, 1 T pb
(10:45 AM MWF, 9 AM TH)
Lunch: 3 oz chicken, 1 c grapes, 1/2 c carrots, 9 almonds (3:00 pm MWF, 2 PM TH)
Snack: 1 oz chicken, 1/2 pear, 3 almonds (5 PM)
Dinner: 4.5 oz shrimp, 1 c green beans and mushrooms, 1 small apple, 1/2 c black beans, 2 t peanut butter
Snack: 1 cup 1% milk right before bed

Keep up the good work everyone!!

Re: No Grains/No Sugars Support Group!!

Hey everyone! Welcome to the new folks!

Jennifer - bacon wrapped scallops, crudites, baked chicken wings, um.....I'm sure there are many more, but they are slipping my memory. Deviled eggs - experiment a little to find a replacement for the mayo, or make your own. Cold shrimp with salsa instead of cocktail sauce.

Ok, the sugar thing is really starting to get to me. Not getting on the scale is one thing, but when my work pants are getting tight..... Just have to stop.

I had a 1 oz packet of oatmeal with my first meal today, otherwise no sugars or other grains and I have stayed in the zone all day. Funny, even without thinking about it, I really was hungry exactly every 3 hours! About 2 hours left in my day, and just enough blocks for one more small meal.

Re: No Grains/No Sugars Support Group!!

Hey everyone,
After spending the weekend eating beignets, po-boys, muffalettas (Amber, that one was for you), and ettouffe over rice , I'm back in the challenge. Again, I'm going to go easy on the grains (not cutting them completely, but keeping them pretty low) and cutting out all sugar. Today was a mixed bag -- fasted this morning (I really need to detox from the weekend) and had some grains with my whole wheat tortilla, but no sugar other than the dates in my larabar.

At any rate, glad to see you guys are all still here! Keep up the good work. I've got at least a week of withdrawal symptoms ahead of me, so I'll be checking in often!

Re: No Grains/No Sugars Support Group!!

Just had a great zone, no grain, no sugar dinner!
3 tbsp avocado mashed with 4oz asian baked tofu (3 fat, 2 protein)
3 cups bok choy steam fried with indian spices & 2 oz tempeh crumbles (2 carb, 1 protein)
8 cherries (1 carb)

Delicious and very satisfying!

Re: No Grains/No Sugars Support Group!!

Going without cokes and snacks was difficult at first, but I've managed. My biggest problem is my morning meal. I LOVE cereal and orange juice. That's what I've had for breakfast everyday practically for as long as I can remember. I've decided that once my current stash has been depleted that I'll have to wave bye bye for the time being. I still have quite a few pounds to lose.

Keep me strong guys!

Think of it this way: you aren't losing orange juice and cereal so much as gaining sausage, eggs, peppers, onions, cheese and milk.

Re: No Grains/No Sugars Support Group!!

I'm so bad.
Still ODing on chocolate and nut butter.
Today I spent the day cooking zone meals.
I have a week's worth of food.
That's enough to detox my brain from all that chocolate and restart my zoning ways.

I'm so mad at myself!

Samantha,
Don't beat yourself up. Today is a new day (a new week!) and you are prepared to take it on with all that healthy food you cooked. It's all good!
