DIY CrossFit Equipment

It wasn't that long ago that I decided I was going to give up the gym and only crossfit in my garage. I wanted to help out some of my friends too. I thought a lot of home gym stuff was overpriced so now I build everything.

After my friends realize how cheap and easy it can be to have your own garage gym they actually start making their own. I guess I still helped in some way.

Built so far:

Power Rack
Weight Rack
Wall Ball
Parallettes
Plyometric Box
Rings

Instructions for all of those can be found HERE (WFS)

I try to put up instructional posts on all my DIY stuff when I can. More projects to come.

Re: DIY CrossFit Equipment

I would recommend going with 4x4's at the very least for the power rack.

That was my original thought too. But I'm coming up on almost a year of constant abuse and have't had any problems.

Haha that's why I put it out there, to help you in your quest. Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions or need any help. I don't claim any of it to be perfect, but it is working for me.

already made the wall ball a few months back
that box jump will be done soon. DH wants to build me one at those EXACT dimensions
I don't have a need for rings yet but those rings are brilliant

Re: DIY CrossFit Equipment

Jered,

I like the rings, however, how different are they than actual round rings? My hands are quite large and I am worried that my grip might not fit in your PVC rings comfortably. Rogue rings are barely large enough for me to get a quality grip. Let me know because I would like to try to build and use them if they are close to wood ring size.

Re: DIY CrossFit Equipment

Although most of this stuff is awesome (definitely going to use the plyo box dimensions), the rings seem pretty unnecessary. You can find basic rings at many big box fitness retailers for 40-60$ (at least in Canada). Is saving 20$ worth it?
