Re: What are you reading?

Grant-

From 16-25 I worked in bookstores. This led to having 50 good sized boxes of books. This has been whittled down to a few favorites, and I am almost soley a library reader now. Saves me tons, and I tend to read at least 100 pages a day.

Food is my major expenditure, as I try to eat organic and grass fed.

Re: What are you reading?

Ya, I really need to make the switch to library reader, but I like having the books. I sometimes highlight, and I almost always take notes on what I read. There is just something tangible about owning the books.

I am finding out quickly that Dostoevsky is god...

Re: What are you reading?

Probably not on the same level of Dostoevsky, I just finished reading Next by Micheal Crichton.

Very good book with a couple of interesting topics that are going to have to be delt with in the realm of gene therapy, cloning and the like.

Just started Zombie survival guide on an eariler reference in the thread. So far so good.

Re: What are you reading?

What to Eat by Marion Nestle (WFS)

She discusses food marketing, nutrition labels, freshness of food, how to choose food, how to navigate around supermarkets etc. There are many things I'm learning from that book that I haven't heard her talk about in her lectures. Very useful!

I like Dostoyevsky too. I think Crime and Punishment is just magnificent. He had such insight into human nature, in my opinion. If you've never read it, I highly recommend doing so.

It is sitting on my shelf waiting for me to finish The Brothers Karamazov. I've heard many good things about it. Right now I am trying to wrap my mind around all this book has to offer on the concept of truth, among many, many other themes.

Currently reading a series of books by Stephen Ambrose about U.S history and military history. Reading "the Wild Blue" now and have "Band of Brothers", "Nothing Like it in the World", "Citizen Soldier" and "D-Day" in line.

Re: What are you reading?

Just finished: Gates of Fire. Awesome - thanks Lynne!

Currently reading: Darkly Dreaming Dexter, some textbook on movement impairment syndrome (blah), Starting Strength Second Edition.

I also have War & Peace sitting on my shelf unfinished for about 4 years. I love reading but damn I hate that book! If anyone has any tips on how to finish that monster (drugs, hypnosis, etc) please let me know!
