The point of Krav Maga or any other self defense system is that there is never a 100% chance that you won't be attacked. A mugging/carjacking/home intrusion etc. can and will happen anywhere.

I practice both styles, Muay Thai for sport, Krav Maga for protection.

I'd say if you only have time for one, Krav is your choice. Krav is a system that implements the best points of: Muay Thai (clinch, knees, elbows), boxing (straight, hard punches) wrestling (defending takedowns, body control), etc.

I find it to be more effective than other ground based styles (bjj, judo, wrestling) for self defense for the very reason that if you're on your feet you always have the option of running. Plus, not many systems have tried and true means to defend against an attack with a weapon. Plus, conditioning is a huge factor in the streets, more so than a ring or a cage IMO.

That's just my two (or more) cents.

No one is faster than someone else's trigger finger.
The facts are that the techniques have saved lives.

I like Krav Maga but there is a rule in law enforcement: If it isn't documented it didn't happen.
