Will My Shoulder Recover? Will I CrossFit again?

In process of looking for a good ortho in the N.VA and MD area as I type this. If anyone knows a really good ortho let me know please.

Also looking for any helpful tips from personal experience to speed up recovery.

These are the results of my arthroscope MRI:

1 - mild to moderate glenohumeral degenerative change w/moderate synovial hypertrophy
2 - Fraying and maceration of the superoposterior labrum
3 - Small intrasubstance tear within supraspinatus tendon
4 - Tendinopathy of the subscapularis tendon
5 - Mild acromioclavicular degenerative change w/slight impingement

Doesn't look too good

I used him for my knee surgery, and I went back to him on a consult when I thought I messed up my shoulder. He is a believer in using the least invasive procedure possible - and tries all non-surgical remedies first.

Actually, if you're over 40 and you exercise regularly you could do A LOT worse. If you're not and you play sports/exercise aggressively.. again could be a lot worse.

You should be able to recover from that with proper physical therapy.

Re: Will My Shoulder Recover? Will I CrossFit again?

Thank you very much for all of your responses.

Justin - I must have injured it about 10 yrs ago because I've had minor issues with it off and on every few years since. It all started from my heavy globo days, man I wish I knew about CF then.

This particular time a couple of months ago I was doing burpees for the 1st time. I noticed pain after a few reps in and I thought "here we go again" but just plowed through the workout.

Normally the pain would last a few days and I'd be OK but not this time. It hasn't healed obviously and has been in moderate pain ever since.

Based on that analysis I don't think you need an MD... just a good physical therapist.

Or maybe your doc was poor that's why you want another ortho. Who knows.. get yourself to a good PT though.

Wierd, but I got on here looking for almost the exact same answer. I have a SLAP tear. I am going to post another thread about it so I don't hijack your thread.
