So, I know this subject has been beaten to death and Ive done my best to read through past threads.

However, Im having some issues. Specifically, Im looking for a watch that has chronometer functions where you can time various series of work and rest, preferably with only one press of a button, thus starting the series (the casio lap 50 is great for this) AND a heart rate monitor (and ideally an altimeter and barometer, but that might be asking a lot).

I seem to be able to find either or but not a watch that has both...

Watches with those functions are running from $100 - Casio to over $350 for a Suunto.

Check them out, Nike, Timex, Garmin, Suunto (biased since I own one with a HR monitor), Casio.

Yeah, the Suunto T6 has everything you asked for (plus more) all in one unit. I got mine from Dick's Sporting Goods, and they are available from several places on line, but they are not by any means cheap. Hope this helps.

I have the timex system with GPS/HR/altimeter/data recorder, etc. Works great for my needs. I did have to replace the heart monitor strap after a couple years of hard service, the battery contacts corroded from sweat.

Only complaint is that the chime is a little quiet for tabata with music on.

I've been using the Suunto T6 for about 4 months now and am very happy with it. I've worn it during xfit, running, soccer, treadmill and elliptical. No problems with it. I originally went this way because of the EPOC measure which was another way to see how hard your were working and improving. I also have the footpod which adds some additional data.
