What is your secret?

What is your secret to staying on track during the holiday season? I sometimes find it hard to stay on track.

Everything in moderation and motivation So, the pie calls you.. will it kill you? No. Should you balance it out with the rest of your day? Yes.

Re: What is your secret?

This year I'm just going to be very strict with my AD-style diet except for the actual holidays themselves. I can eat whatever the heck I want on Thanksgiving if I'm strict the other 6 days that week. I won't be taking home any carby leftovers, but oh well.

Re: What is your secret?

Religiously tracking it really helps me (I use Fitday). When I think about having to input the badness and see the results graphically (I'm more concerned with crappy carbs than calories), I often opt to refrain. (although I didn't yesterday, way too much candy, almost 72 grams of sugar )

Re: What is your secret?

I make the food work for me. Heavy eating and heavy lifting for November and December. It's not an answer to your question, but I'm excited to see how much damage I can do this year.

Otherwise, what Jacob said.

IF on the days you know you're going to some evening function with gobs of food.

Eat a large plate full of the veggies platter before moving on the decadent stuff.

Drink more Patron and embarass yourself singing vs sitting in the corner stuffing your face.

Re: What is your secret?

I wrote in my log, or somewhere on these boards, that I'm committed to being the same weight on January 1st, that I was pre-Halloween. I'm hoping that, by committing this in writing, I will be accountable to hold to it.

Also, I'm trying to balance the good with the bad. When I see all the yummy desserts, I go lighter on the main meal. Not a good nutritional balance, but at least I'm not packing on the calories that way. And I know it's just temporary.

Re: What is your secret?

Thanks guys. Those suggestions I think will really help me. I guess I will just have to work harder and try to over indulge myself in things that are good for me like veggies and listen to my stomach when it tells me that it is full. Thanks!
