Beer Can Chicken in the Oven-good way to get ride of a abird.

So I'm making room in my freezer for Deer and more Beef, when I came across this lone Chicken. I'm not a big fan of Chicken, but it was raised local. I was too lazy to fire up the grill, so I just rammed a pop can into the bird filled with spices, ACV, some water, then rubbed the bird down with whatever, popped into a 400 degree oven for 30 minutes, then turned it down to 350 for 1.5 hours, done. Pretty tasty, but not as filling or (IMHO) as good as red meat, but the bird had to go, so you do what you have to do.

Before and after pics.

Beer can chicken is one of my favorite sunday meals. Although I am w/ you, I prefer red meat.. chicken tends to get boring.

I cook mine on the grill. Use indirect heat and cook for about 1.5 hours. The rub is the key, whatever you have available. I use a lot of paprika.

I think if we could get a bunch of us together and wedge a keg into a buffalo, we'd really be onto something.

And maybe kill the buffalo with spears beforehand. WOD and a meal, good times.
