Pain and loss of strength in shoulder/upper arm

Hi there. Im wondering if anyone can suggest possible diagnoses and solutions.

When doing presses I feel pain and a loss of power in my left arm. The pain runs down from just below my shoulder "around the back" of my deltoid about an inch below the surface.

I've attached a picture with the area highlighted in blue.

The problem's really reduced my lifts and I'm not sure how best to proceed.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Pain and loss of strength in shoulder/upper arm

Was there an injury that you remember causing this pain? Or has it just kinda progressed slowly on its own? Shoulder issues are pretty complicated so if it's actually bothering you, you should go get it checked out by an orthopedist. It could be a capsular issue, labral tear, rotator cuff tear, etc. Really though, it'd be good for you to get it checked out so as to avoid further degeneration.

Re: Pain and loss of strength in shoulder/upper arm

Hey Sam,

Yes, this is the same problem that I have. I wrote about it 2 days ago on the log board.

Not only am I having trouble lifting weights overhead, but I'm also having trouble (sometimes) just raising my left arm higher than the shoulder.

I've been going to a chiropracter 3x a week. He diagnosed it as subacromial bursitis and tendonitis. Unfortunately, we also discovered it in my left thigh bone too. It's as if my entire left side is shutting down.

The chiro is doing A.R.T. I forget what that stans for, but I think it's some kind of repair therapy. Plus he attaches the electrodes, does he back crack thing, and a buch of other chiropractor stuff.

Hope this helps you.
Nicole
