I picked up some of the CostCo brand after seeing it recommended here, and today had my first "fish burps." Disgusting.

I'm guessing some other folks have had this. Anybody know any tricks to combat it? I was thinking about freezing them, but that might be counterproductive.

Also, it sounds like most folks are taking 4-6 a day, two at a time. Is that about right?

I take between 4-6 a day but I also use the nordic naturals brand, lemon flavor. Yes it is more expensive.

Eat the fish oil cap in the middle of your meal. Putting food on top of it helps to prevent "bait-breath". Or at least that works for me...

The Carlson's fish oil doesn't do the fish oil burps. You could freeze the pills with no problems. Or you could take them at night before bed.

My fish burps went away, after a while, and now I kind of miss them.

I don't get them any more either. . .

sometimes I get the smell coming out the other end (no that isn't a joke).

I take 4 pills 3 times a day (yes that is 12 pills a day). Robb's orders.

Did you get the "Enteric Coated" ones? This made a difference for me. I got the Kirkland (costco) brand ones and they don't bother me even though I take as much as I do.

I don't, I take the regular ones. My understanding was the enteric ones may not be absorbable. Absorbable isn't a word, but still.

I'm with Larry. Carlson's is good stuff. I got GI issues when taking the Costco brand in large doses.

Thanks for the suggestions, gents. I'll pick up a bottle of Carlson's, and use up my current CostCo stash by taking it at night.

Chew them and like it. I use a needle to puncture it before consumption. That way the essence comes out faster.

My primary source of protein is fish now a days... you think the burps are bad.. wait till it comes out of the other end.
