Just had my first bagel in months..

I caved in.. The sheer amount of terrible / delicious food in my office right now is staggering.

I fought the good fight for the past week, but it just became too much.

I have to admit, I feel awful. I can actually feel the effects that 400 calorie carb bomb is having on me. Maybe some of it is mental. But, I really feel like I'm a lot more tuned in w/ my body and this stuff just shouldn't go in.

To all my fellow office dweller / crossfitters trapped in similar situations today, surrounded by chocolate, cookies, bagels etc .. Fight the good fight.

Think before reaching out for something. Save your treats for when they really mean something (like eating the xmas cookies that are left out for Santa or a couple pints of quality brew while relaxing w/ friends.)

Happy holidays crossfit.

Jack

Hang in there. I've already been buzzed twice this morning, "Gant, I know you eat healthy, but I brought some ___________ down in the kitchen."

I'm sure I'll capitulate and grab a little fudge, but the olive oil chaser won't be far behind.

I hear you on the Olive oil....

On another note, I ended up drinking half a can of soda yesterday for the first time in almost a year...and I had the worst headach ALL DAY....ugh it was a good reminder of why I hate sugar...

Swap fudge for Cinnabon and olive oil for almonds and you've got my morning.

Re: Just had my first bagel in months..

This has, unfortunately, been pretty much a "cheat week" for me. I teach in an upper elementary school (5th-6th grade) and have been bombarded with sugary treats all week...not to mention everything my colleagues have stocked the staff room with. I can usually resist temptation...but it's only polite when given a gift to sample it and say "This is delicious, thank you very much!"...right??? Anyone??? I've convinced myself the 2 dark chocolate gifts I was given today are fine for consumption. Happy Holidays everyone!

Can you please explain what the olive oil does?

Blunts the insulin response by reducing the percentage of carbs.

Awesome, haha

I'm doing IF/Paleo instead of Zone these days, but the principles are pretty similar. I do IF every day during the week and then try to eat Zone'ish on the weekends, being more lenient on what I eat.

Having this leniency isn't a good thing at this time of year, when cookies, chocolates, breads, and other evils are just laying around the house everywhere I turn.

Last night I broke my fast, ate a ton of good food, then went and saw a movie at midnight (my feeding window goes from 7:00-12:00) where I succumbed to a large bag of movie popcorn.

I didn't feel bad, necessarily, but I was just drained of energy and couldn't wait to get to sleep. But hey... tis the season!
