I was wondering how many people here have purchased the Gill Athletics Pro Power bars? Are they good for olympic lifts? Not interested in any other bars so please only respond with comments on this bar. Thanks.

I have a Gill Power bar, a Chapman and an Elieko. The Gill is great for deadlifting, squating and benching. I can't iamgine snatching with it though.

jeffrey, i just purchased the propower 1500lb bar from gill, I really like, it spins really nice,it is a larger diameter, I have not used other bars other than oly bars at local gyms and this is the nicest i have used, i am using it to learn oly lifts and for crossfit and i am happy. With the crossfit discount IMHO you cant beat it, I would have to get really good at oly lifts to justify paying double or triple the cost of the gill bar, you can put a 25 on the end and give it a spin and it will spin for a minute or 2, just my 2 cents

We have several 700lb and 1500lb Gill ProPower bars. They spin really well (if you put a 25 lb bumper on it and give it a spin it won't stop for about 3 minutes) and have held up to a lot of abuse.

I like the knurling better on the 1500lb bar, but I like the size better on the 700lb bar (30 mm vs. 32 mm)

They are fine for the olympic lifts, much better than other bars in their price range. If you start to focus heavily on olympic lifts you might end up upgrading later, but this bar is great to learn on and worth keeping around for powerlifting workouts and "Linda". If you are just doing CrossFit and not competing in olympic lifting you probably could go forever without having to upgrade from the 700lb bar.

Thanks everyone for their replies. I called Gill's today and it looks like I will be waiting until Sept 15th to order the 700 lbs bar :crybaby0: but I am sure it will be worth it.

I have the Gill 700 lb. bar. It's a fine bar and a great value. Spins like crazy.
