Becoming a well rounded crossfitter

Hey all,
Usually when i find something i like i follow with it pretty persistently... For example when I started lifting thats all i did.... then when i found out about metcons thats all i did. I want to make myself more of a well rounded athlete in crossfit and was wondering how you guys schedule your week. For now i try to follow a 4 days on 1 day off 3 days on 1 day off schedule. Within that how many days should i use for olympic weightlifting (which this would be a max day in those lifts right? ex: deadlift, snatch, cj, etc...) how many for metcons and what other types of things would help (gymnastics wod, mobility wods, etc..).... Does crossfitfootball follow that type of training regimen? Thanks for the help all.

In my opinion, strength should be a priority, then I'd put skill work, and lastly you can focus on metcon. I think mainsite tries to create a well rounded CrossFitter so if you follow that, you should accomplish your goal, once you have adequate strength and can do muscle-ups and all the skill work.

So you have many options around in terms of strength program or even some hybrids. Starting Strength + a good diet and recovery would make you strong and gain weight. CrossFit Football is excellent. I follow it, and my strength is going up, there are also metcons but they are heavy and don't exceed 15 minutes, sometimes 20. If you choose to do it, you won't regret it, but stick to the programming. There are other programs as well like the big 70s and Greyskull's but I'm not too familiar with them.

Getting an adequate level of strength is going to take quite a while (over a year, depending on what you do). Once you have the strength, I think you can follow mainsite and add some skill work.

This is what I would do, but I'm sure there are other guys who can give you better advice.
