Weigh food raw or cooked?

I did a search on this but nothing relevant came up. When weighing beef or chicken for example should I use the raw weight or cooked weight. Six ounces of 85/15 beef raw usually comes out to 4 3/4-5 ounces cooked. Same with chicken, obviously moisture and some fat is what's being lost. I've also google'd related searches with no concrete answers. Thanks for everyone's help in advance!

The only reason I've ever worried about food weight is for protein content in meat and I've just gone with the raw weight. I figure it's pretty much just water and fat lost in the cooking and mostly just water.

I do cooked weight as the more you mess with raw meat the more chance for contamination. I would rather not risk putting raw meat on my food scale, especially chicken.
