I hover around 173-175. My last CFT was:

Squat: 365
Press: 190
Dead: 453
Total: 1008

I have since upped my squat 20# (thanks Rip) and my press 5# so I'm excited for the next one.

Re: 1000lbs club CrossFit Total

I'm really close now. I hit these within one day of one another and after a week of no rest. Weighed in at ~153/155.

PR's
Squat: 320 (ATG)
Press: 170
Dead: 405x2 (puts it around 415/420 i think)

The cool thing about stiving to increase my total is it compliments my track and field workouts. If all goes well, I can add ~50lbs to my dead (aiming for a 3xBW), ~25lbs to my squat, and ~10lbs to my press by January and break 1K.

Re: 1000lbs club CrossFit Total

Ah jeez, I don't do max singles anymore (too much chance of injury and I'm old), but here's some recent work sets with these three movements. I only started doing military presses on Friday (yesterday). I've been working on olympic movements the past 7 weeks.

On the squat, I had nothing but my tommy kono's and my Rehband warm pants - 405x10. It was a set of 5 straight reps, then racked it to take two breaths, then did 5 more reps. I was sore for days afterwards.

On the press -225x2. New movement for me, but I don't press anywhere near as well as I pull. I've never benched over 340 pounds. I doubt I could do 315 now; but I don't want to try.

On the dead - 645x4. I wore a belt and I have to use straps, I can't hold onto anything anymore. I singled 775 last spring helping a good friend get ready for the Hummer Deadlift at the Arnold - we just kept on putting weight on the bar and doing singles.

If I had to guestimate my raw numbers (minus the wimpy straps), I'd say maybe 5 for the squat and 7 for the dead, and maybe 250 for the press.

Oh, and I'm a cow - 260 at 5'11". Old school powerlifter trying to get some fitness in his middle age. That's why I joined this community. I used to lift more in the squat, but I honestly don't want to ever have 10 plates on my back ever again. Been doing more rowing, running, and kettlebell style xfit workouts this year. Losing some absolute strength trying to get some explosive strength for my sport.

I've never made it through the "three bars of death" and that's one thing I want to do before I turn 40. I don't train the bench, so it will be a hard go.

All the best,
Arden

Our athletes are creeping up on my back.
Two guys are warming up right now ready to get their first 400+ DL's.

Waiting for our first 500+ in our gym!

Re: 1000lbs club CrossFit Total

Sean,

1000 is totally doable for us wee folks, but it shouldn't be your only goal. You're posting some incredible times on the Metcons even without the absolute strength so you sound like your functional fitness is doing great. Like Arden said, he can lift a house but he's looking for some more Xfit type fitness now.

I'm creeping in on 1000, I think I'll be there in another 6 months but I won't care if I can't run a 5:30 mile by then too. I'm doing DL, BS, SP once a week and aiming for a 5 lb increase every in each. Always lifting between 75%-85% of my 1RM, 3-4 sets and going for 10 reps each time. I might have to go all "Gant" on this one and bust out some graphs to track my progress.

Currently CFT at 5'4" and 170 lbs:
Deadlift - 405
Squat - 345
Press - 175
CFT - 925

Ryan-
5'4" and 170??? with the numbers you're putting up, you must be built like the proverbial Brick S***house!
And I mean that as a compliment, of course

You are right - 1000# CFT is NOT my only goal. I do love the metcons -- and as much as they destroy me physically and make me sore like nobody's business for days on end sometimes (like Cindy - those max rep squats always kill my thighs), I am always striving to improve my times, etc.

CrossFit Alexandria works on its own schedule, meaning the members don't do the CF main page WODs, but we seem to be pretty close when "the standards" pop up.

I was on vacation all week last week, and of course last Saturday they did Fran and I missed it. We all knew it was coming because we had a build up for about 2.5 weeks of lots of pull ups and thrusters... of course, on my vacation I only hit a gym once... so I won't be "as ready" for Fran when I attempt it as I would have been last Saturday, but I still have sub 6:00 as my goal for my next Fran (which would be a major improvement of almost 2:00).

If possible, I want to try Fran this Saturday. Only problem I see with that right now is my legs and shoulders are shot from the WODs we did Monday and Tuesday. Tonight is a strength night, so I may hit it hard then take off Thursday and Friday and go for Fran on Saturday morning if I am feeling fresh and if one of the trainers will be available to time me.

Thanks for the kudos.

Hope to see you around one of these days.

Sean

Re: 1000lbs club CrossFit Total

I'm closing in on it...slowly. I just hit 800 total, up from 740 last time.

At 5'3 and 145lbs., this is going to be a slow process, but doable!
