CrossFit-inspired Poetry
Good morning CrossFitters! Happy National Poetry Month!
As a high school English teacher, I challenge my students to write things that are inspired by actual experiences that have created strong feelings in them. I have received on many occasions some wonderful stories, poems, and essays from these challenges. So I thought I'd challenge you all! Can you create a CrossFit-inspired poem? Here's mine: Kelly, Gwen, Linda, Helen and Fran- These are the girls that make me a man. Thrusters and Wall Balls, Deadlifts and Sprints Make my quads burn and prevent shin splints. Lovin' the feeling had from the pain, Co-workers stare as if I'm insane. I owe this to Coach and his CrossFit Helping me off the coach to get fit. I hope you all have better skills than me! Feel free to go to my webpage and post your CrossFit-inspired poem to my comments. http://mrmirek.blogspot.com (w/f safe) |

Re: CrossFit-inspired Poetry
We (at CF Watertown) confess to sharing a love of bad CrossFit haiku, hence our blog posting (in Feb) of:
Ode to Chalk Chalk makes us happy Even when things really suck Chalk is still our friend And, it gets even worse, two more unblogged efforts: Wallball Behold the Wallball It looks like it should be fun Oh, I wish it was . . . And . . . Wallball Redux Wallball is mean mass Every one that goes up Comes down so damn hard But don't go looking for poetry on our blog right now, because today we're just a bunch of a**es. |

Re: CrossFit-inspired Poetry
There was a thread about this a long time ago. A search may bring it up. This poem was my favorite, though I did not write it. Major credit goes to whoever it was who did.
This Is Just to Say I have left a sweat angel on the mats in your gym and which you were probably cleaning for cardio classes Forgive me I was exhausted so sweaty and so spent |

HAHAHAHA, I wrote that Patrick, glad it was remembered. I do have to add my apologies to William Carlos Williams.

Poem By Sage Sage Burgener AS I STEP ONTO THE PLATFORM MY STOMACH IS TURNING, MY HEAD, HANDS, AND CHEEKS SEEM TO BE BURNING. I WALK UP TO THE BAR AND I FEEL SO SMALL, BUT ALL I SHOULD BE THINKING IS GETTING REAL TALL. I KNEEL LOWER AND LOWER THEN GRASP MY HANDS TO THE BAR, AND I LOOK FOR A FOCUS POINT, ONE THAT'S NOT TOO FAR. I THINK OF ALL THE THINGS I HAVE LEARNED OVER THE YEARS, THIS LIFT SEEMS SO HARD THAT IT EVEN BRINGS TEARS. "ENOUGH" I SAY JUST LIFT THE WEIGHT!!! LIFT IT WITH POWER, WITH HONOR, AND FATE!! IN A COUPLE OF SECONDS AFTER WHAT SEEMS LIKE YEARS, I AM DONE WITH MY LIFT, I AM DONE WITH MY FEARS! I AM GREETED WITH HUGS, CONGRATULATIONS, AND CHEERS, AND ONCE AGAIN, BECAUSE I AM HAPPY, DO I BEGIN TO SHED TEARS. Not sure how old she was when she wrote that, but that's some good stuff. |
