Re: Running Cadence Timers ?

Though not really a timer, I occasionally listen to some military cadence mp3's. They're not perfect, but it's close enough to keep me at a relatively consistent and comfortable cadence. I'm sure you can do better though

Re: Running Cadence Timers ?

Probably not your thing unless you enjoy hacking a bit, but I use an mp3 player reflashed with the open-source software RockBox (WFS). One of the (many) plugins is a metronome. Unfortunately it won't play anything else but the metronome ticks while you've got it in that mode, but that may be just as well. Worked pretty well for me when I was trying to up my pace.

(I still haven't written my RockBox tabata timer plugin yet, though... heh).

I occasionally use a pocket size electronic metronome my children don't need anymore. Basically I have to hold it in my hand to be able to hear though.

Re: Running Cadence Timers ?

I just have an MP3 player with several songs that i know the tempo of. If I want to change my pace, I change the song and run in step - easy solution that doesn't require buying anything new.

Re: Running Cadence Timers ?

You can make songs with the metronome click with Garage Band.

Just drag the song to Garage Band and add the click. Adjust the volume of the click as needed so as not the wreck the song.

Then add your click songs to a running playlist.

Enjoy!

Re: Running Cadence Timers ?

Similar to Darrens idea, i used a program called mixmeister BPM analyzer to add the BPM info for all of my MP3's and i make a play list based on what tempo i want to run (usually 165 bpm for me). great little tool and free.

I took your suggestion and put RockBox on my Sansa. Wow, it's awesome. I had no idea you could do this. Thanks for the suggestion
