Re: My quest for the USAW American Open, and hopefully beyond!

Still trying to make the open? With less than 2 months to qualify (no idea when you have to qualify by) you might want to make a beeline on making weight.

I have similar goals but I'm more concerned about making Nationals next year.

Are you lifting with iron plates or with proper shoes, bar, bumpers (or recycled rubber bumpers) and platform?

Good luck. You'll need to kick some *** on the Snatch quickly. You might be letting the bar go too forward as you get to the 2nd pull and thus hip bang into the pubic bone and OUCH.

I was figuring I would have to get to a 150 FS as well considering my efficiency ratio of FS to Clean.

Re: My quest for the USAW American Open, and hopefully beyond!

I know its a longshot with the weight but I'm still trying haha!

But yea I actually lift at Liberty Barbell club in Philadelphia so we have york and eliko plates as well as york and eliko bars. I also lift with Adipowers. The Push press video was just taken at my university gym

And yea, thats the biggest thing with the snatch right now. I definitely have 120kg clean and jerk in the bag, its just a matter of time, and as soon as I could stop hitting that spot on the snatch I think that will skyrocket....Hopefully

Good luck on your goals man! I just hit a 140FS last week, and my max clean is 120. Although I feel like there's more there with the clean. Making weight sucks.

Re: My quest for the USAW American Open, and hopefully beyond!

It might be possible as I just figured out what I need to do with my wrists to train. I also managed to FS 100x3 last night after having to wait out some weird ITB crap in my left leg. A few weeks of no squatting has sucked. As well, because of the wrists, overhead work has gotten weak too.

If ya can't make the Open, you should be pretty good for Nationals. Making weight for you might be a challenge as you seem pretty slenderish from that video. I've still got some chub since I'm around 75 or 76 kilos and 5'1. Depends on when I get strict with diet. Bah.

My FS was 135 in spring and going up but 3 months away from the lifts and 4 from squatting made it suckydom. I've gotten back to 120 but still that seems light years away from 135 or 150.

Re: My quest for the USAW American Open, and hopefully beyond!

Yea man best of luck with your squatting and overhead work, Gotta get that stuff in. If I don't make weight for the Open I'm just gonna go on a weight gain regimend and become a true 77kg lifter.. Walk at like 78-79kg.

It sucks that the qualifying totals for 69 and 77 are so far apart. Its 216 vs 247. :/

Re: My quest for the USAW American Open, and hopefully beyond!

10/6/2012

Workout:
Rest Day

Nutrition:
2:30 (17 hour fast)
-Grilled chicken platter with bacon, cheese, and broccoli
7:00
-Protein Shake 0 carbs
9:00 and later
-500 calories to spare for alcohol. Going out tonight

I've cleared my calories for alcohol tonight. I've saved up 500 calories so I will mostly be drinking xxxxx liqour and club soda :/ Gotta make weight. I'm down 6lbs in two weeks. Currently at 160.1lbs. I'm hoping to be 156-157 next week and watercut down to 152 for the meet.

*I do not recommend anybody diet like this!! I'm eating 1600 calories a day and taking EC stack to lose weight fast in order to qualify for the American Open. It sucks major dick.*

So far no ill side effects except hunger cramps every now and then. I'm still getting PR's and the weight is coming off fairly well so who knows. 1600 calories is just so incredibly low....

10/7/2012

Workout:

Snatch:

60x2x2
70x1x2
75x1x2
80x0x3

Front Squat:
70x3
100x3
110x3
120x3
127x3 (PR triple)

Notes:
Snatch is getting better. I wore a cup today, and I will continue wearing it until I can fix my pull to hit in the right spot. Also the inflammation needs to go down. Need to be snatching closer to 90 by the end of the week.

6:00pm (16 hour fast)
-Whey shake

Notes. Pretty much one huge meal today. I didn't think I would get a 16 hour fast in but I did haha. I was super hungry though.

I know I haven't logged in a few days. Short note, everythings going well. I snatched up to 87 and failed 90 a few times the other day.

70x2

Clean and Jerk:
60x2
70x2
80x2
90x1
97x1
104x1
110x1
115x0x3

112x0x3

Failed on the jerk most of the time.

Squat:
70x3
90x3
110x2

I'm not happy with the workout today. I'm a little over a week out from the meet. Today was supposed to be a very heavy clean and jerk day. I wanna open with 115 but I couldn't hit it today :/ maybe saturday. Snatches felt good.

Also I'm very low on sleep.

-1lb of ground beef 90/10
9:00
-10 chicken wings

Keto day.

Carbs: 8g
Protein: 156g
