A home made 24" plyo box, "The Plyo Block"

I've been using a retaining wall outside my house for box jumps, but I don't like how far away it is from my Garage, (Where my stuff is). I'm of the "Macgyver" generation, so I like to make my own gear. Below is, "The Plyo Block".

Materials:
4 Concrete Blocks, @ 16 in. x 12 in. x 8 in. You need them to be 12 inches high.
○ Cost @ Home Depot = 2.48 each.
1 Bath mat, flexible and with a nice rubber bottom for traction.
○ Cost = 14.97 (Probably could have found a cheaper one, but need the rubber bottom)
Arrange block opposite of each other to gain more stability when landing on them.
Now, why is there a bath mat on the list of materials? Good question, I figured, I'm not Superman, (yet), and I might slip up and miss the "Plyo Block". Yes, I'm calling it a "Plyo Block". The bath mat simply covers the edges of the brick in case I have a weak moment. Bloody shins would be bad.

Set up time is next to nothing and total cost was $28.04 including tax. I could have cut down the mat to make it look nicer, but for now this is how it looks when I set it up. Photo's are attached. And of course, you can always go back and get more blocks for more or less height, they come in all different sizes.

Have fun, and remember, "If you still look good after a workout, you didn't work hard enough."

Simple and effective.

The only issue I would take into consideration is the blocks toppling over....Inexpensive which is what makes it good.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking at first. Each block weighs 55 pounds. Used it this morning and felt pretty solid.

Sounds like for $40 you could have a double wide stack at 48". Put it against a wall and you've got a stable box jump of 24, 36, 48". You've also got 16 55lb blocks that can be carried two at a time for distance in a workout.

Carry entire stack 100 feet away. Reassemble stack. Perform box jumps. Carry back. Repeat. Good stuff. Will be buying some of these tomorrow, thanks for the idea!
