Protein Intake

I recently read an article which suggested that you should consume your protein over the course of the day and not load up on protein during one meal. The article stated that, generally, we can only absorbe about 30 grams of protein per meal. I am trying to eat about 200 grams of protein and trying to figure out how best to do so.

Thanks.

I know its crazy in this day-and-age but I read it in a PRINT copy of men's helth. So, I don't have access to the link. However, if I able to dig it up online I will post it.

Re: Protein Intake

Don't worry, it's crap. Eat it anyway you want; all at once, spread out, etc. Doesn't really matter.

Re: Protein Intake

Eat 5-6 meals a day all with a set amount of protein until you've reached 200 grams. If you can stomach eating 200 grams of protein at one meal then have at it.

Re: Protein Intake

Recent write-up I read:

(SFW) http://www.wannabebig.com/diet-and-n...a-single-meal/

basically there is no real limit (within reason) in one sitting...your body will take however long it needs to digest what you put into it.

Found on Men's Health (WFS)

Quote:
"Your body can process only so much protein in a single sitting. A recent study from the University of Texas found that consuming 90 grams of protein at one meal provides the same benefit as eating 30 grams. It's like a gas tank, says study author Douglas Paddon-Jones, Ph.D.: "There's only so much you can put in to maximize performance; the rest is spillover."
Trying to find a link to the study...

Found this web site talking about the study (WFS)

If that was true then people would get malnutrition from doing IF. Someone linked to this article (WFS) a few days ago on another thread...it summarizes a study that debunks the "no more than 30 grams" myth.
