How often do you screw-up a WOD?

I mis-read the instructions for Eva, and did 400m runs instead of 800m ones. That's the 3rd workout I remember screwing-up like this.

I do the WODs about 3-days behind the post date, so I have time to move things around if required. That gives me time to read the instructions at least twice, and still I've managed to mess them up. How can this happen? The entire WOD is less than 20 words.

Does that happen to other people too? How often?

I just did the same thing with eva how funny, what I do is write it down on a small piece of paper so I can just look at it before the workout, or keep it in my pocket or something and reference it as needed which works out pretty well, but don't sweat it too much... the real frustrating thing is when you forget your watch and don't realize it till after your done...

Re: How often do you screw-up a WOD?

I work out at an affiliate and have managed to screw up 2 workouts. I lost track of which round I was in for one of them (did a bonus round) and in another workout I forgot the rotation of exercises and ended up missing one exercise for a rotation. I just made it up at the end.

It happens from time to time.

Happens to me all the time...some of us just aren't wired to be that detail oriented. It's fine. Happens occasionally.

I remember I did 5 rounds of 400m run + 50 squats before instead of 4.

I have to keep a journal or else. I write the WOD down and then follow it while at the gym. If not I would be lost. Good Luck

Funny things happen when you're hypoxic bro.

I have trouble counting reps mostly. But writing the WOD out in your log (which you're hopefully keeping) helps if you're bringing it to the gym with you. Also marking off rounds as you go will help as well.

Absent a coach to assist you, this will be an issue, but thems the breaks.

Re: How often do you screw-up a WOD?

I do sometimes use a pen/lines in the sand/twigs to help me count reps. Depends on where I'm working out. If I'm in my garage, I have a pen hanging from a string with a piece of paper clipped so it's readily accessible.

Recently I've been thinking that maybe part of Crossfit is being able to keep count during a WOD. You know, keeping numbers in your head while you're under pressure. So I'm considering stopping using aids to help with the counting during the WOD.

Regarding the logs, I always post my times to the site, and I keep a separate log of the more common workouts and weight loads. I don't put every workout in there though.

Attention to detail. When you lose count, start over... and punish yourself with 50 burpees for every mistake made during the wod.

This method will help you develop laser sharp focus......

Happy New Year

Hell, I do this, and sometimes still don't do the right sets, 3x3x3x3x3 instead of 5x5x5x5x5 or something . But a journal is great, and that's really how I measure myself instead of a whiteboard.
