Film Dedicated to Troops

My brother Alex is a Captain in the SEALs and stationed in Tampa bouncing back and forth to Iraq and Afghanistan. My dad just retired from CIA.

As an actor, I grew sick and tired of seeing all these movies where U.S. troops and intel people were shown as malcontents and/or killers. So I took money I should have used to repair the hole in my roof and made my own movie, OVERRIDE, in which I wanted to show the viciousness of our enemy and the honorable struggle to defeat this enemy--which by the way isn't MY BROTHER!

my trailer and info is at: WWW.OVERRIDETHEMOVIE.COM (Moderator's addition: link's safety is indeterminate, since I dont' have time to watch the trailer, and the OP didn't tell us)

I know a lot of military folks read crossfit and I want you to know at least one person in the "artistic community" supports you and wants to depict the war in honest terms. And there's some good hand to hand fighting in it too....

THANKS TO CROSSFIT AND ALL THOSE PROTECTING US...
Randall Krongard
Executive Producer
OVERRIDE Productions LLC.

How delightfully cheesy! As a former indy filmmaker, with nothing on my resume worth showing off, I thought it looked good. Well done

Kind of hard to tell what it's about from the trailer, though.

I thought the same thing...no idea what this is about, and how exactly does it relate to your post Randall?

Film Dedicated to Troops: A little clarification I hope...

This is a good question regarding the trailer and the movie and how all this stuff relates to the post.

here's the synopsis if the trailer didn't do a good job explaining:
=============
Nothing is worse than losing a child. No amount of painkillers, violence,
or self-loathing can wash away that kind of hell. But try telling that to
Taylor Braithwaite. The only person he hates more than himself is the
terrorist who murdered his daughter and he’ll tear the world off its
hinges to track the man down. But first, Taylor must battle his ignorance
and guilt until he can accept the helping hand of Abdullah, a Muslim-
American cop. Only then does he have a shot at his vengeance and just
maybe a new life.
=================

My post indicated i was tired of having our troops be the bad guys or at least dirty in so many movies. I made the plot of the movie linear, in the sense that this islamic fanatic terrorist is the clear bad guy and the hero,Taylor, with his flaws even, is the good guy. Of course, Taylor is no saint but the ugly things he does, he is forced to do to exact revenge. This movie was made for about the cost of a used car so I was limited of course and couldn't make a traditional war movie. That's my goal, though. in the near future, I want to show the movie in as many places as possible to raise money for Wounded Warriors and Marine Corps Scholarship Fund...so I hope the movie doesn't suck!

Re: Film Dedicated to Troops

What movies are you speaking of where the military is shown in a bad light? The majority of movies I've seen with the military in them they are for the most part shown in a great light.

And nothing beats Apocalypse Now as far as a bad light.

You're attempting to put the military in a good light by making the main character/soldier/good guy a man who is driven simply by a desire for revenge and will tear the world off its hinges in order to get it?

Re: Film Dedicated to Troops

I like the idea of dedicating a film to the troops but I have to say I don't get the trailer. I did read your description before I looked at the tailer and still, its fairly vague. The footage looks good technically, the acting seems to be better than can be expected on a ultra low budget project, but as a marketing tool I think you need recut the trailer and really pump up the plot points.

Just my .02

Re: Film Dedicated to Troops

what an amazing response, thanks...the dedication is:
"To all those on the front lines in the war on terror, from New York to New Delhi..."
and in my mind the troops were foremost among this list of people....again the idea was to show the enemy as the enemy we really face today but perhaps the trailer doesn't clarify that...Maybe will place a dedication in the trailer, recutting it may be more difficult as we are full blast into our next movie THIRD STREET but thanks so much...

Re: Film Dedicated to Troops

well, showing the enemy as the enemy, that it's not a rogue CIA agent teamed up with a crooked business man who in turn allow a strike so they can profit or something, yes...
