What's the view on cortisone shots for persistent tendonitis? My doctor swears they're safe, although I've hurt negative things about them elsewhere.

The most consistant answer I have heard is that they are safe up to 3 a year before they measureably affect bone density. effectiveness is a real individual thing. Some of my patients think they are magic, but several saw no benefit from them. Most of these were for back pain, so they may not have been what those people needed, but one to see if it helps get you over the hump with inflammation I don't believe is going to hurt you.

Mid way through college I had a shoulder impingement that was constantly giving me trouble. Two cortizone shots spaced 6 months apart coupled with PT got me through it. This was a shoulder problem that bothered me for 3 years prior to that. From that point forward I had no trouble with my shoulders through the rest of college. I've had some minor shoulder stuff since then that PT alone has been able to fix. I have weird shoulders to begin with.
