Shorts

Hello All,

I've been doing the WODs now for a few months and I'm getting tired of doing them in my martial arts uniform pants. They're heavy and abrasive and they make squatting exercises difficult. So I'm looking to get something else and I noticed in the videos that most of the guys seem to workout in shorts.

What kind of shorts are recommended for CrossFitting? Board shorts? Any particular pair/brand?

Thanks!

(I did search, I could find nothing on this subject.)

Re: Shorts

Just get some comfy shorts and worry more about the WOD than what you wear...just my .02

To answer your question, I currently wear Underarmor, Nike, Champion, and Addidas shorts or running/training pants - depending on what's clean and how cold it is outside. Nothing special...

Re: Shorts

Fit is probably the most important thing, but depends on the WOD. You want to be able to get in the bottom of a deep squat without ripping them, and you don't want the crotch on them so low that you can't swing a kettlebell between your legs. I have a pair of Underarmours that have a lower crotch and also have the leg come down past my knees, and I pretty much only wear them if I know I'm not going to be squatting in any way (overhead/back/front squat, cleans, snatches, wall ball, thruster, etc.) or doing KB swings.

Re: Shorts

Personally, I don't use board shorts if there's squatting involved. Too many monkey butt and ripping issues. I wear sweat shorts that stop slightly above the knee, so they don't get caught by my knees and don't rip in the back, and they offer more absorption (if you know what I mean). Same goes for deadlifts and Oly lifts. I do wear board shorts for anything else, because they're light and thin and quite comfortable.

Re: Shorts

I wear running shorts and sometimes capoeira pants. No problems with squats or anything else yet. I do know that even "long" running shorts are still much shorter in the inseam than shorts that are stylish these days, e.g., basketball shorts, board shorts.
