Rehband knee sleeve sizing

I've read the theads around here that mention Rehband knee sleeves, but I'm still not sure what size to get. I measured my leg around the mid patella and got 15.5 in (39.4 cm). The Rehband sizing online lists a Large as being for 37 - 40 cm. But it also says that for a competitive fit get one size down.

Should I go with the Large or a Medium? I want them to work well, and I'd rather them be comfortable than add a couple pounds onto my max.

FYI, I am looking at the original Rehband 7051 since it is recommended over the newer 7751.

You would be ok with a medium but don't expect them to assist you in lifting more like you mentioned. They are simply thick neoprene, nothing like knee wraps or sleeves used in power lifting.

My Knee is 39cm at the patella. I wear smalls in both the original blue ones and the gray ones. Mostly I wear the smalls because they are my wife's and I steal them sometimes and I don't have a pair of my own. They are tight but not overly so. I would think size large would do absolutely nothing for you.

Thanks for the responses. Especially thanks Marshall for anecdote. If you can wear a Small fine, I'm sure a Large is unnecessary for me.

Thanks again!

Re: Rehband knee sleeve sizing

My knee measured at 38mm. I ordered M but when I got them they sent 1 L and 1 M. I tried both on and went with the L. I wish I would have gone with the M. The L fit fine but they do tend to work their way down so I have to constantly pull them up.

And remember they will stretch over time. I got mine about 6 months ago. In that time they went from very tight to somewhat loose.

Still one of the best investments I've made, I will certainly purchase again.

Re: Rehband knee sleeve sizing

I was discussing these sleeves with my wife last night. May I ask what these are for? I would imagine they are for adding stability to your knees when squatting heavy? Are they for an injured knee? As I see Rogue sells them as singles...

Thanks!

I'd go with smaller then what you think you need. I measured my legs and purchased a large. I ended up selling those to a friend and ordering a medium. I've been using the mediums but honestly wouldn't mind having a snugger fit.

I am planning on using them for their "warm up the knees" property. In the past few years I have had some pain in my knees while squatting, whether it was with a bar or just lowering myself. I think that I have identified this to be a mobility issue, as it gets worse as my mobility does. Usually the pain goes away after doing KStar's Couch Stretch on both legs and I can do my workout just fine. Sometimes a good warmup does the trick too.

My assumption is that these will aid in getting rid of pain while squatting. They will be used to compliment my warm-up and mobility work. Hopefully these will help enough so that I can save my mobility work for after my workout.

As for adding stability, I don't have a clue.
