Hello everyone!!! I've been doing Crossfit for about 3 weeks, and I would love to start a Nebraska affiliate in the future. Where do I start? How to I attract clients, or a group to workout with? I was thinking about approaching the YMCA about holding sessions, but do I need to be certified? What do you during an hour session when a workout only lasts 10-30 min? I've got a million more questions that I could ask. ANY advice would be great!!!

I'm headed in the same direction...working on starting a program through the Offutt Health and Wellness Center and my unit's PT program to get experience running classes before I jump head-long into a certification/affiliation. What part of Nebraska are you in? I'm in Bellevue just south of the base. Lets talk and see what we can do together.

Good Day,
I am in Graduate School for Health and Physical Education and I am a die hard Crossfitter. I would love to see Crossfit implemented as the training style for PE programs in schools. Once I achieve my certification as a PE teacher, would you recommend getting Crossfit certified to be able to implement Crossfit as part of the PE programming?! I believe that Crossfit can and should be the future of PE. I am in need of some guidance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Reed, I did training for our local "Y" for several years.
I have done MUCH better since I left.
Huge organizations like that can really squelch creativity, and generally don't pay very much either.
I hooked up with a good solid independent gym, and it has gone pretty good for almost 5 years now. They were very cool about opening our affiliate there.
Hope that helps.

The problem is I live in a town of about 25,000. The Y is really my only option. Neil and I have met once at a lake located about half way between us to do a WOD (which was great to have someone to push you), but meeting daily to CF would be impossible. I'm thinking I just need to build my garage gym and hope to find some interested people in my town. I don't really know anyone here. How do affiliates spread the word?

You don't need to have the cert to start using the concepts in PE class.

Is there a CrossFit version of Dodgeball?
