Re: $1500 for HS weight room

Even more info:

We have in addition to the previous list:
4 large tires for flipping
2 pulling sleds
1 large "bruiser" pushing sled
multiple sandbags
many jump ropes

Toys I'm considering:
womens bar(s)
ultra light training bar(s)
training plates
lighter KB's (15-20#s)
pair of 32kg KBs
Med Balls (love those mb squat cleans and wall ball)
another set or two of rings
plyo boxes
outdoor pull up bars

Thanks all for playing "Stock My Weightroom"
Those of you who teach as well, you know that if you don't spend it, you don't get it. Great ideas everyone. As an affiliate owner (Crossfit Morris County) and PE teacher, all of my classes and athletes follow crossfit methodology. I have classes of about 20-35 at a time and about 40+ general users and athletes after school. I'll keep you posted as to what I purchase. Garage Gym Store here I come!! If anyone else has more good ideas, please post. I'm trying to produce the best Crossfit high school gym.

Re: $1500 for HS weight room

If you could get the outside pullup bars awesome. You could either have some that are low enough to do rows on or go with bands or ring rows.

Some lighter bars besides a women's bar might be good. 2 regular 20kg bars, a women's bar, and a light bar...or two of the latter two.

Jeffrey, pvc parallettes are so damn cheap and easy to make; why not as I see it. I will agree that rings at that extra 50-70 a set for the fitness kind will start eating into the budget. Adversely, you can also make some a whole bunch of homemade rings as well if you don't need something that is worth doing handstands on. They'd work for just about everything else ( and maybe handstands if they had cargo leather straps and nice buckles ).

GHD would just eat too much of that budget for just 1 or 2.

Virtually anyone in a weights class will come to terms with having to lift weights and dumbbells. Start using the more eclectic stuff and you'll get the weird faces. Of course you can take the I don't care approach which is something I run into and move on as well.

Ab mats would be nice but there wouldn't be enough in that budget.
