$1500 for HS weight room

I have approx. $1500 to put towards my HS weight room, any suggestions. Need the most bang for buck. Rower will be placed on different ticket so no need for that on suggestion list.

What do they have? Or not have...

If its a somewhat complete room...go with KB's and medicine balls...rings are too complicated...MB/KB's are simpler to use...

Contact Jason Hughes at Wright Exercise

He has terrific bumpers and bars, and does quite a bit of HS outfitting. BTW, he's a CrossFitter, sso he knows what you are looking for.

Re: $1500 for HS weight room

If you need to most bang for you buck then check out the crossfit journal that deals with putting together a home gym. Check out all the home made gear such as parallettes with pvc and the plyo boxes could easily be made from the instructions on this site. Look for large used tractor tires to do tire flips etc. You can make different weight sandbags with sand and canvas bags(such as military issue duffle bags) to do cleans and many other movements. If your school has welding classes get them to fab up some pullup bars, dip racks and some squat racks. Bumper plates are great for many reasons. Call Jason at Wrights. Most important is to use your own imagination. Look around for common items that are readily available and very inexpensive to obtain.

Re: $1500 for HS weight room

Dude it is a HS weight room, you will most likely be training multiple athletes at one time so it is my recommendation that you forego most of this stuff in place of weight and bars and collars to lift the weight. Dumbels too.

Check it out
KB sub with dumbells
wall ball sub with thrusters
These things (KBs and Med Balls) are used in moderation most of the time, the other things give you multiple options.
I do suggest rings, very hard to duplicate the stability required to do ring dips on bars.

If you have a goodly amount of weight then start looking at the other stuff, but with that amount of money, you want to spend it on the things that are going to give you the most options.

Re: $1500 for HS weight room

Time for more information, we have:

squat racks x 4
Olympic bars x 10
bumper plates
Olympic plates
kettlebells (15-55lbs)
dumbbells (5-95lbs)
rubber med balls - many
Dynamax MBs x 3 (10,116, 20)
rings x 2pr
climbing rope

well stocked crossfit weightroom, this is why I'm looking for some suggestions. My students and athletes follow a modified WOD. Maybe this info will help with my wish list.

Re: $1500 for HS weight room

$1500 worth of chalk.

But seriously, it looks very well stocked. You might invest in some less-used/miscellaneous pieces, such as slosh pipes, sandbags, tires, plyo boxes (if you don't have a good place to jump already), resistance bands, parallelettes, maybe another set of rings if you have room... Also just noticed you didn't mention a GHD, might want to look into buying/building one of those.
