It truly is frightening. I am praying that when my son starts school next year, he doesn't have a hard time with lunch. I plan on packing it for him, but I know he'll want those kiddie foods. Luckily, he will have no choice, but I'm still worried about it. Also, I'm glad he has a milk allergy, because he just can't have many processed foods!

that's what I was going to say. Grain is cheaper because well... it's cheaper. It takes less effort and resources to produce and ship 1000 calories of grain than it does to produce 1000 calories of veggies, fruit, nuts, eggs, meat, or anything else. Always has, probably will continue to for the forseeable future.
