What to do for legs?

Hi all. Been squatting alot over the last year, and a few months ago I started having knee pain. I was able to work through it for a few workouts, but it got quite a bit worse and I couldn't anymore. It's gotten so bad that walking upstairs is painful now. Anyway, I went to physio. and they said I have tendonitis in both quadriceps. I will keep up physio. and see what happens.

My question is, what do I do for squatting or deadlifting? Is there anything I can do to keep up with my squats and deadlifts, at least to maintain the strength I have already. Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
