can heavy squats and deadlifts make my rotator cuffs worse?

I've been having RC pain for quite a while, I tried to keep working out while doing rehab stuff from my physio but it's not fixing itself, so I'll have to stop working out my upper body for a while. However I want to keep working on my squats (back and front) and deadlifts, if they can't make my RC worse... Can they?

And are there any other big compound exercises (other than leg press, and curl/extensions, which aren't compounds) that I could do without hurting or making my RC worse?

In squats or deadlifts your cuffs are in a flexed position to hold the weight and your shoulders in the correct position - they aren't rotating or loose, and if they are you aren't tight enough. I would see no problem with doing them - of course you'll have to see how you feel.

What kind of pain? Is there a tear? have you had surgery? Most likely if you are in therapy I would recommend against any heavy deads or squats with rot cuff disfunction.

Where does it hurt (pictures)?

What were you doing when it started hurting?

What was your previous routines looking like?

How long has it been this way?

etc. As much info as possible.

And yes, they can make it (whatever "IT" is) worse like George said.
