CF Journal not free anymore?

This is hugely disappointing. One of the greatest things, IMO, about CrossFit was that it was open source. Coach bragged about this on more occasions than I can remember. It seemed like he believed that it was part of the foundation of CrossFit. And now they're gonna charge to read the articles?

Bummer.

A couple years ago it was not free. I was actually more surprised when they quit charging. For the content they deliver $50 is a steal in my opinion.

Today was the first time I ever clicked on an article to read it, and it redirected me to a page to pay for the journal to read the full article. That's never happened before.

Agreed- doesn't jive at all with what Coach has said on many occasions about all the ideas people faring to him to make more money in the backs of the community.
I wonder if they even follow this board anymore with all the new social platforms available today.

It was a little bit of a bummer for me also at first because I had been used to it being free for awhile now.

But if you do some digging, you'll find that it was actually paywalled for a while, although they still gave out a lot of great free content.

Before, the 25 bucks per year was about as much of a steal as possible for the unbelievable amount of info you were getting, and I had been subscribed since 2008 if I recall correctly. (Used to get 2nd hand printouts of the old, old Journal articles when I was in high school as well.)

I was admittedly unsure about purchasing the new Journal subscription, but I did and it's well worth it. Plus you still get to go back and read all the archived stuff.
