July 4 weekend making air travel to CA for CF Games expensive!

Been watching the air travel ticket prices for MCO -> SFO/SJC/OAK/MRY. I think July 4 weekend is seriously jacking up domestic fares. Anyone else run into this yet? Cheapest I found was almost $400. Even flying Tuesday-Tuesday or Wednesday-Wednesday. And connecting to Timbuktu (well, not quite, but you get the idea). Tips on lowering that fare? And no, "2,500 Murphs" is not an alternative.
