Re: Bert's Crossfit Journal

Great work on the challenge Bert, bet the sandbag was harder than a bar which I used, although I have a nice groove carved into my upper back now.

Thanks mate.

No idea if it was harder than a bar .. I gotta say that the sandbag lay pretty good on my back. I think a bar would bounce more due to its length. Just guessing though.

Monday @ SL's

Mobility circuit

Speed Olympic Squat

Bar x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5
120 x 2
120 x 2
130 x 2
130 x 2
120 x 2
120 x 2
120 x 2
100 x 15

Standing DB Press

10 sets of 10 with a light weight

High Pulls From the hang
(practice)

Bar x 6
50 x 6
50 x 6
50 x 6

Snatch Deadlift + Shrug

80 x 6
80 x 6
80 x 6
80 x 6

Chins

BW x 10
BW x 10
BW x 10

SS

Pushups

BW X 30
BW X 30
BW X 30

Comment: Trying to take it easy on the shoulder. Like Jesse, mine hurts in overstretched positions, like in a high bar squat(taking a wide grip now but still high bar to counter this).

It's odd, I don't have much pain at all during the exercises. I'm already gaining weight from a few weeks of squats, guess that all my lost leg weight is coming back. I'll probably end up like my genetic disposition: big legs, big butt, big traps and that's it

Nice work on the challenge Bert. Your facial expression is pretty funny in that second picture, looks like your having a blast!

Having an excellent facial expression during a sandbag run is a lot like making love to a beautiful woman ... first you have to know that whatever you do, you're gonna look silly. Second of all, don't get cramped up in that position

Winking at the camera is beyond my control mate

I think we've attracted plenty of attention with that one!

Short personal update: I will graduate in april(if all goes well)and I'm thinking of a career in National Security(you know, James Bond - sort of).
It would appear this is not a job you can simply apply for, but since last March they are publicly looking for candidates and I think it's a job I'm very fit for.
Still winning over some information on the how and why.
A career as an officer in the Belgian Special Intervention Unit is also something that appeals to me. We'll have to see.
Either way, I've got a few months of teaching ahead of me after graduation, which should be interesting.
The physical tests are a Cooper Test, a 10-meter shuffle run and a few other things. I don't know the further specifications of the Intervention Unit physical tests yet. Not worrying, but I'm excited!

Re: Bert's Crossfit Journal

Coming from someone who sits at a desk everyday (ME) bored and on the internet doing a seated job when he is hyper active. GO FOR IT!!! Sounds fantastic and you would be brilliant, can see you in dark suit and glasses now (MIB).

Hehe, thanks mate!

I too am hyperactive ... (although I can hide it well behind a carload of nonchalance).

I love teaching, but it's a little bit too narrow-minded for me sometimes ... plus I want to keep on moving up, not be set in the same place till I retire.

Besides, I've always been an enormous James Bond and Good Ol' Sean fan, this would be a dream come true
(don't anybody dare come up and try to give me the "let's be realistic, it's not gonna be Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang" talk! )

Re: Bert's Crossfit Journal

Wednesday @ GF's Place

Mobility circuit

Various kettlebell stuff .
.. squats, lunges, rows, bottoms-up presses, swings ... active recovery for everything, nothing special.

Thursday @ SL's

BW + 4kg x 20 meter
BW + 4kg x 20 meter
BW + 10kg x 20 meter

Snatch Deadlifts

Bar x 6
60 x 6
90 x 6
90 x 6
90 x 6
90 x 6
90 x 6
90 x 6
90 x 6
90 x 6

SS

Standing DB Press

8 sets of 6 reps

Bentover BB Row

5 sets of 20 reps

SS

Snatch Shrug

5 sets of 20 reps

Romanian Deadlift

2 sets of 30 reps

One-Arm KB Swings
