Re: Guitar Hero World Tour vs Rock Band for Wii

Rock Band 2 for the wii will have downloadable songs in a couple months, or so it is claimed (since there are none yet there is a possibility that something will go wrong and they won't be able to). Rock Band 1 never will. However you will only be able to buy songs, PS3 and the Xbox360 allow you to buy song packs and full albums for a discount (assuming you want all the songs), and Nintendo won't allow selling like that. (It is possible to buy a song twice on PS3/Xbox360, once in the pack and once alone - there is no refund if you do this)

If you think you want to download songs you might want to get a different system anyway though. Used Xbox360s are getting cheap, and the harddrives store a lot more songs than a Wii memory card will which makes playing the song you want easy if you have a lot of music. (I have personally bought more than 200 songs, using about 6GB of disk space) This is where you have to guess how you will work.

P.S. This is a party game. It is a lot more fun when you have several people playing with you. So you should seriously look for someone to play with. In fact instead of buying the game for yourself you should think about instead finding a friend with the game, and buying him some more songs for his system. You have to decide if this will work for you (the downside is if someone moves your money spent on songs is lost), but it is something to think about seriously. I often pack up my system for weekends to play with someone else.

Re: Guitar Hero World Tour vs Rock Band for Wii

Huge Rush fan.. although I never listen to them during workouts (CF or otherwise). Well sometimes when I run, but not very often. They are more of a "thinking man's" music (aka nerd rock), and thinking is the last thing you want to do when grinding out heavy singles or endless pullups.

There's a hilarious video from earlier this year (WFS) with Geddy, Neil, and Alex playing Rock Band's "Tom Sawyer" - they fail it.. badly. Then curse each other and threaten to leave the band cause they all suck. Priceless.
