Press

Question for those with experience in the press:

What can I do to get the most bang for my buck when trying to improve my standing press? I can press 110% of my BW and it has stalled, no surprise there. Off the bat I know my triceps are a limiting factor since I budged 180 off my chest but couldn't get it past my nose/eye level.

So besides pressing (and refining technique) what "assistance" exercises should I incorporate and in what fashion? I already practice handstands and HSPUs.

Re: Press

You'll probably get a nice group of responses from the gymnasts and other experts but...what do you do for dips? i.e. rings, weighted...etc...

Re: Press

Since it is a strict, slow lift, I would look into partials, heavy negatives, and more pressing. Chains, bands, fractional plates.

Re: Press

Weighted HSPUs... on rings. One arm handstand pushups... you know easy stuff like that.

Chains, weighted dips, etc.

Already talk with you on aim though, ho ho.

Re: Press

I'm also stuck at about 110% (150 at 135). I actually hit 150 once and now stuck at 145. 145 goes up pretty easy; 150 gets stuck at the nose like you mentioned. I think I need the fractional plates. The 5lb jump is not working.
