Doing both main site and CFE...
hey guys, ive been doing the main site wods for 5 months now....(love it) and recently started doing CFE also....are there many other ppl here that are doing both? are you getting enough rest? i recently went 11 days without a complete "rest" day.... and eventually hit a wall..... any comments or recomendations?

Are you doing *all* the CFE workouts, or only 2-3 per week? Read the CFE information and you'll see that 2-3 per week is all they recommend for single sport athletes. I'd say you should end up with at least one full rest day per 8 Crossfit days. (6 CF WOD days plus two rest days, one of which is a CFE time trial.)
In any case, yes, rest is more of an issue the more workouts you do. If you're hitting a wall, you're not getting enough and need to back off. Katherine |

I was doing both, and like Katherine said, doing 3 CFE WODs per week. However, for XC I needed to log more miles so I switched things up. I now do the mainsite WODs but sometimes skip workouts like 1-1-1-1-1 reps of deadlifts and instead do a long run then rest the next day. The CFE workouts are good, I still do a couple every week but add in a Long Tempo and/or Mid tempo to boost mileage and endurance.

I am by no means an expert, as I have only been crossfitting for two months and have only been doing my own version of CFE for the same time period. However, I definitely think that you need to make sure that you get your rest days. I have been running on my CF rest days, and I think my body is starting to tell me to quit it. The main reason I have been running on my rest days is that I haven't been able to find the time to separate the CF and CFE workouts like the CFE site advises.....Also, like you, I have been trying to add in some longer runs. Although I believe that CF and CFE can prepare you to participate in just about any type of race, I think a lot of people, myself included, need that one longer run per week.

ok dude i am doing CF and CFE for cross country running
whatever you do DO NOT cut the pur strength days out (deadlift 1-1-1-1-1-1) otherwise you are just doing metcons and that is not ideal CF. And sometimes you will need that pure strength, it does help. What i do is i do three runs from the CFE website and then i do another longer run on another day. Sometimes i switch it up and do two long runs, two CFE or a row/swim some days. PM me im happy to answer any questions. |

I have another question for you guys, if your doing triathlons do you do one day swim one day bike one day run or sets of three for each cause thats how the cycle works for CFE?

Is there a rest day in this rotation? I have been doing both but my schedule is a bit different, i do not do the crossfit WOD every day. I only do it two times a week because I do not have the time to do both.

I believe that is the max. If you check the CFE site it is 4-6 WODs per week with no more than 2 CFE workouts per event, per week. I may be wrong, but you can check it out.
