It's O-lifting not cha-cha. If you're wearing thin the rubber soles of your O-lifting shoes you're probably doing something very, very wrong.

I used poly on my platform and haven't had too much of a slippage problem. IIRC I used very coarse sandpaper between coats.

I also have heard that using silica sand mixed into paint or poly works quite well:

What I did for my platforms was brush on the poly, wait maybe 20-30 min once it got very tacky (almost dry) then go over it again with a dry stiff brush and do random angle sweeps with the brush. This will make small groves in the poly so it won't be slippery but still look nice.
