Well, I am off to sign for space for my CrossFit dream in Indianapolis, Indiana. Thankfully, the space has a couple of offices so I can do mortgages, which helps pay the bills. I am taking the attitude that if I build they will come...I also teach Commando Krav Maga, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so hopefully that will help offset the cost. Still a big step, but Indy needs a CrossFit affiliate, and I am going to make it happen. Going to CF Cert at the end of this month...ohhh, tons of stuff going on. Hope to be up and rolling by the middle of February.

Congrats Jeff and best of luck to you.

I'm planning to open an affiliate this year in my town. This forum has been a big help with my decision to do so.

All the best Jeff. Just a few quick questions for you if you don't mind.

1.) How much are you initially spending on gym equipment?

2.) What is your monthly rent?

3.) Do you have any clients to start?

Appreciate your time in advance and look forward to your response.

Thanks,
Steve

Doug,
Commando Krav Maga is AWESOME (this comes from a guy who is cynical about all martial arts, even though I have done BJJ for about 10 years). Basically, the gentleman who co-founded Krav Maga with Imi Lichtenfeld, Moni Aizik, started his own organization. He decided to call it CKM, and it is quite a bit different then Krav Maga, more military, disengage aspect. Try never to engage, but to keep balance and distance. Here is the website www.commandokravmaga.com.

Steve,
1. I am also getting mats and heavy bag stations. Just under 15K
2. Monthly rent is under 1900 a month for 3600 sqft, in a prime location off of a major highway.
3. No clients just some people who have expressed interest. I have been the wellness director at a couple of large Y's and a CPT etc, etc. However, I figure if I can't sell CrossFit, then I can't sell anything.

By the way, the lease is signed and I am on my way. Thanks for all of the support.

Jeff,

That is really cheap for a good location. Our utilities bill is $1200 per month. I need to move south.

Doug

PS: Thanks for the infor on Commando KM
