I just purchased some bumper plates and was wondering if it was possible to use bumper plates and smaller diameter non-bumper plates (anything less than 35 pounds) to increase the weight. Do I run the risk of breaking my bumper plates or damaging my olympic bar?

ive done that before and it never really seemed to be a problem, and i was throwing the weights down from all the way overhead from a jerk. just my personal experience though. the sound the iron makes will scare you a few times, but ive never seen any damage to anything doing this

As a rule of thumb, keep the amount of 'change' down to no more than the weight of the bumper.
