Cool thanks. Do you WAM or just eyeball it? I can't believe how some of them survive on what they eat given the workload they are going through each week.

Not for me, although in the past I've fallen into the trap of wanting to be lean and have abs at the expensive of performance/strength. I've been inspired by 70's big, to just get strong as f**** even if that means gaining weight or not staying as lean.

Edit: I really really like your post Katherine. Funny enough, these college kids lean out because they think women find that look attractive.
Most college guys are in for a rude awakening when they graduate and get out into the real world. My friend who worked out with me in the fall and does it by himself now due to conflicting schedules said to me yesterday that he wants to get bigger, and he's 6'5 220lbs; he doesn't care if it's summer. At least some people get the message.

@David: cheap cuts of meat are your friend, think pork butt, brisket, beef chuck, whole chickens, etc. You can also throw in some peanut butter or milk to make it lighter on your wallet.

Just eyeball it. I only know I'm eating that many calories because I take a log every so often. I've got pretty good body awareness, so I get pretty quick feedback if I'm eating too much/too little/the wrong stuff.

Re: You must eat this much to play

holey dooley! I am appalled but not surprised reading the article....

sounds like that method is a fast track to anexoria.. its the price for that waife like look that is so promoted. seriously these women are so thin /emaciated that their heads look out of proportion... none look strong.

dunno what number of cals i eat but most likely around 2000 or so. my weight seldom varies by more than a kilo and a half... I also weigh myself maybe every two weeks or so.. used to be weight and food obsessed but not any more thank heavens.

Helen

Women don't like the abs? That's really counter-intuitive to what I've learned while at college.

People just go about getting abszes the wrong way. Eat a lot. Sprint a lot. Lift heavy ****. Play a lot of sports--where you sprint a lot, too.

I wish you would've pointed me to the women that don't find that attractive when I was in high school and college. Maybe I would've gotten more action.
