B. Craig's Log

Hey all,

I'm an on again off again CrossFitter. I would always do CrossFit for about a month and then miss doing power lifts consistently so I'd switch back to 5-3-1. I recently discovered CFFB and fell in love. About 6 weeks ago I got mono though and I've been out of the gym ever since. Game plan is to start up again today after class. I'm going to take it easy and do skill work for a week. Then next week I'll start doing some scaled down WOD's. I played in my fraternity's intermural flag football game last night with some success. I didn't have the same stamina, but I was still pretty explosive. Today I'm sore as hell though.

Fast stats:
Lifetime PR's
Bench Press 235 lbs
Squat 405 lbs
Deadlift 415 lbs
Press 135x5
Body Weight ~ 220 lbs
Mile ??? (Probably horrible)


Goals for the end of the year:
Bench Press 250 lbs
Squat 420 lbs
Deadlift 450 lbs
Press 155 lbs
Mile >7:30
Pull-Ups BWx10
Body Weight under 200 lbs
In general, be able to competently complete WOD's

Last night I didn't get any free time until after the gym closed so I did some push-ups, sit-ups and other ab exercises in my room. Tonight I might do something similar when I get back fom the library. The WOD "Tabata Something Else" is coming to mind. Tentative plan for the rest of the week...

Wed - Cardio at the gym, probably some running

Thursday - First crack back at weight lifting, prolly do bench, squat, chins and dips.

Friday - I'm thinking I'm going to feel wrecked after Thursday so probably some more running / cardio type stuff. I might work in some olympic lifts.

Then, starting Monday, I'm going to start doing scaled versions of the WOD on CFFB again.

First day back into the gym. It felt great!

SWOD:

Front Squat 3x5 @ 185 lbs
GHD Sit-ups 3x12

WOD:

As many rounds as possible in 12 minutes:

2 Power Snatches @ 75% of 1 RM
2 Rounds of 3 Pull Ups, 6 Push Ups, 9 Box Jumps 20" box

I got three rounds minus the pull-ups after round one.

Tuesday:

SWOD:
Bench Press 3x5 @ 175

WOD:

One minute on, one minute off for 10 minutes:
30 KB Swings 1 pood

I made all five rounds! The original WOD called for 2 pood, but there was no way. The goal for this week is to survive and maybe build up a psychological edge. Definitely looking forward to having today off. The body hurts.
