Is this Roman Chair CF certified?

Does the Roman Chair in this picture work for CrossFit? Sorry for the dumb question but I haven't done back extensions in years and have never done the Glute Ham situps or other CrossFit exercises that use a roman chair.

Re: Is this Roman Chair CF certified?

I don't have a Roman Chair or a GHD... but I've tried out Roman Chairs at sports stores, and they do work for extensions. GHD's give you the added benefit of more moving parts (adjustments) and the top/bottom of the leg anchor. But the Roman Chair will do until you want to buy a GHD.... I can't decide whether to get a Roman Chair or wait to afford a GHD....

I'm rambling now......

So what is a GHD? How is it different than a Roman Chair? From what you described above it sounds like the same exercises that can be done on a Roman chair can also be done on a GHD but the GHD is capable of additional exercises?

Best way to describe it is to recommend Google! York makes a Glute Ham Developer (GHD). You'll see some differences. The foot-holds are adjustable, as is the seat area. There are also two foot holds, not just one. They are also generally larger, more stable, and beefier.

I have one like that. Got it on CL for 50 bucks. Not near as good as the 500+ ones in terms of comfort, but it definitely was worth 50. I'd pay 100.

Here's the great Dave Tate's GHD document: http://www.elitefts.com/documents/glute_ham_raise.htm

It's safe to open anywhere.

Re: Is this Roman Chair CF certified?

Thanks guys. I didn't realize there was a difference between roman chair and GHD. I think I would prefer to just save my cash for a GHD.
