Re: Soda vs. Beer/alcohol

Thanks to all who confirmed my belief that beer is way better than soda.

I'm back on my "diet" again starting today. We haven't made a grocery store run yet so instead of my normal breakfast of 4 eggs with zuchini and a dash of shredded cheese finished off with a grapefruit I had a bowl of Special K with a small amount of Fruit Loops on top for some flavor then I had two fried eggs on a piece of wheat toast and a glass of Orange Juice.

Not perfect but better than the chocolate donuts I was eating on vacation.

Wish me luck, Jerry

Lets see. Soda. Can't get a DUI drinking too much soda.

Re: Soda vs. Beer/alcohol

If your tap water is that bad, get one of those water filter pitchers. Unless there is actually something in the water that you shouldn't drink, but that is pretty rare. In that case bottled water is better than either of your chocies. If you can get soda or beer you can get bottled water.

It's not that it wasn't available. It's just that it was a multiple family vacation and I didn't want to come off as a jerk (elitist) by requesting something as safe as water. I just didn't want to rock the boat and deal with all the ribbing that goes along with that. So, I just drank a bit of the soda but mostly beer (and some Bombay Saphire too, if I'm being honest).

Peace, Jerry

Whats wrong with being elitest? Why is mediocrity so great?

Re: Soda vs. Beer/alcohol

The dehydrating and testosterone lowering properties of alcohol far outweigh the negative effects on soda in my book.

But as the white-bearded man on top of the mountain says: "Everything in moderation."

Re: Soda vs. Beer/alcohol

Jerry,
getting ready to go on our "multi-family vacation".
all of us crammed in a house together on the beach.
last year I brought my wheat grass juicer and had to spend half my time explaining my food stances ...
but this year its gunna be raw milk and beer !

Not together, I hope.

I'll be heading off to family vacation at the beach in a couple weeks. I don't have trouble avoiding soda, personally, since I don't like it, but there will be plenty of alcohol and I'll indulge in moderation - hey, it IS vacation. But I try to keep in mind the hierarchy of booze, as handed down by our trainer:

Best to Worst:

1. Red Wine
2. White Wine
3. Spirits & Non-Sugary Cocktails ( Whiskey, Rum, Manhattan, Martini)
4. Dark Beer
5. Liquor (Grand Marnier, etc.)
6. Beer
7. Sugary Cocktails (Margarita, etc.)
8. "Calorie Bombs" (White Russian, Mudslide, etc.)
