LOL Eric. You're cracking me up. I'm just super-critical (sometimes in the nuclear way) of "corporate" gyms. I worked in 'em long enough to know their motivations, etc. What you see in me is an idealist who was given a rude awakening.

And yes, there is a lingering bitterness over my childhood spent in that government vat...

Boy meets girl
Boy introduces her to Crossfit
Boy gets girl

Another Crossfit love story.

Isn't this stuff just beautiful.

Reminds me of the time some bodybuilder came over to me when I was on the bench press (WOD)...

"You're grunting kind of loud and the sound is invading my personal space". (Yes, he really said that. I couldn't make this up.)

Sigh... I love living in LA, but it really has its drawbacks.

Noah - that list of "How to get kicked out your gym in ten days or less" is in the September 1, 2002 CrossFit Journal "The Garage Gym."

Noah, you may want to inform the management at gym that Olympic Weightlifting is one of the original Olympic Sports that is still around. Also, this would be funny if you train at a 24Hour Fitness, as they are a sponsor of USA Weightlifting!

Anybody remember where I can find the old list of "how to get kicked out of your gym in 10 steps."

Stuck your phrase into the Search box and saw this instead, posted by Lynne Pitts:

Maybe you'd have to be a powerlifter to appreciate this story, but then again, maybe you wouldn't!

her link: <a href="http://www.elitefts.com/documents/si...your_gym_4.htm">Sick of Your Gym, Part 4</a>

bwahahaha

This is in that thread, too:
On of my favorite Crossfit Journal columns is from Issue 1, "how to get kicked out of your gym in 10 days or less".

Have fun,
Rene'

Not just trainers or management feel threatened by going about training the "wrong way", even when the "wrong way" yields better results. But customers of the gym also feel threatened. The "wrong way" is still understood to be a danger to the user and those around them.

That's right! People take a wide berth around me when I'm doing cleans and db swings!
TGU's get the weirdest looks. . .then the trainers teach them to their clients! (true story!)

Ahhhhhhhhh. The sound of having your own gym in your basement. My own music, my own equipment, no mirrors, no commute. Just bought my first digital camara today and will shoot some pictures of the "gym" tonight.

I work in a gym and I am always on the look out for people who are doing the wod or variations of the wod...im getting really ****ed of with the *******s that populate my gym and do the usual routines, especially the guys who are so obviously on steroids.

I have managed to talk a couple of people round to the CrossFit way of training but not enough...my quest continues!!
