Bond doesn't have any gadgetry that a spy wouldn't actually have. No laser-beam watches, no jet-packs, no invisible cars. All of the books are like that. The idea with "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace" was to get back to making more realistic spy films. But for those who are fans of Lotuses that are also submarines and BMWs you can drive with your cell phone (which also happen to have a little buzzsaw in the BMW logo in perfect anticipation of the baddies stringing a steel cable in your path, what the was that about?), then they're not really Bond films any more.

They did the same thing with "Star Trek." It's great, it's very entertaining, it's going to reinvigorate the franchise, but it's completely different and for those who've been fans for a long time, it's not really Star Trek anymore.
What do you mean? I was reading in a newspaper article that they are trying to reach people outside of the Trek cult and has been trying to do that ever since. So it won't be like the originals but sure does looks sweet.

The new Bond movies are cool and definitely different.

I loved the original Star Trek stuff and the movie is awesome. Its just Star Trek for my kids. Besides JJ Abrams makes fun movies.
Iron Gaint? You're not talking about the cartoon are you?

Lol. Diesel is the best. I don't care what people say. I saw The Pacifer 2 times and it was good. I don't know why people hate it. Last summer I watch Chronicles of Riddick so much I shaved my head!

Yeah I know what you mean. They used to show it at 3 am on sunday morning and I would used to stay up late if I can to watch it and once I saw it I couldn't stop.

If we're talking about Vin Diesel, Boiler room was actually really good.
Yeah Liam Neeson looked different without his trademark Qui Gon Jin hair and beard. Sad thing about his wife though. Glad he is back playing Zues in his next movie.

Boiler Room? Never seen it. What's it about?

I hope GI Joe is gonna kick some tail. Transformers will be, besides it has Megan Fox.

Knock around guys was really good as was Pitch Black. I haven't seen the latest Fast and Furious but I'm sure it's better than the one in Tokyo. It looks like they are going back to formula.

New Star Trek looks good, especially the cast. I actually liked a lot of Enterprise, especially with Dr Soong and his superhumans. Not all but some. I didn't much of that plotline with destroying the earth by some avians but moving past that.

The Mummy Returns was watchable, fast but enjoyable. So long as you watch movies seeking only to be entertained and not as some fascinating plot and script writing you won't be dissapointed.

Van Helsing was entertaining for what it was but I was a bit disappointed in the theatres. Not overly, just slightly.
I remember seeing Kelly Ku on a dvd cover when I was little and I was like she is pretty. Never seen Van Helsing. Looks good though but from what you guys said they could have made better. Should make a sequel. Never seen Pitch Black nor the cartoon version but both looks great.

Er... that's what I meant, dude. It's fun, it's entertaining, it'll revitalize Paramount's big franchise and it'll be a popular thing again. But, it's completely different, and that's kind of the point. It's not Star Trek... that is, it's fundamentally different from the stuff I've been a fan of for nearly 25 years.

He's not a main character, but he has a decent role in it. It's not really a Vin Diesel movie though.

Right, I know what you mean. I hate it how the originals gets messed with.

Edit: lol. I just basically repeated what you said in the first post. ha ha.

Oh he was?! Wow, I haven't seen that movie in ages. I used to love it as a kid and watch it loads of times.

By the way I am watching Pirates of the Carribbean: Dead Man's Chest right now. It one so of those movies of the week on tv. Haven't seen the 3rd on yet though.

Re: Vin Diesel

Wil, I am perplexed that you are just now seeing movies that have been out for a couple of years.

Van Helsing is worth one time merely for two magic words in the heart of any male I know...

Kate Beckingsale.

Automatic. Crossbow.

(Well, no, not really. That movie was TERRIBLE.)

Re: Vin Diesel

Automatic Crossbow vs Kate Beckingsale...hmm.

Do I go for the useful toy or the fun toy. Well actually both are fun and have uses.

Re: Vin Diesel

Kate Beckingsale made Underworld 2 watchable.

And that is a hell of a feat.
