Suggested body weight & body fat %
i am brand new to Crossfit. In fact, I had my first offical class yesterday. I'm pretty proud of myself. I did 1 rep max close grip bench 135 pounds! YAY!! I must say I'm TOTALLY HOOKED!!! I would even leaning to the side of becoming obsessed!
![]() Now for my question. I hope this isn't a stupid one so please bear with me. I was wondering if I could get an idea of what the suggested body weight and body fat percentages for women doing crossfit. I would believe that crossfitters tend to weigh more than the "average woman" due to the increase muscle mass? I am 5'3. Any help would be so much appreicated! Thank you very much, Teresa |

Re: Suggested body weight & body fat %
At 5'3" you will probably be looking at a body weight of 130 to 140 @ 18% body fat.
18% looks damn good but is not quite 6 pack abs on most women. These are very general guild lines. If you happen to be very thin boned or very thick boned it could be somewhat higher or lower. The formula is: current weight - (current weight * current body fat %) = lean body mass then lean body mass + (lean body mass x .18) = health target weight Remember the only really accurate body fat test are when they weight you on land and then in water (I think that is how the test is done) everything else will be generally close but not exact. |

Depending on your genetics and type of build you may have more or less mass than the 130-140 range though so I wouldn't worry about it too much. |
