I am looking to improve my flexibility but I fail to stretch regularly because I can't come up with a time efficient stretching routine that feels thorough.

Does anyone have a good flexibility routine that is efficient?

There is no cookie-cutter approach. What you need to do for the best results depends on your goals, your perceived limitations and the causes of your tightness. The best thing to do is to educate yourself on good stretching practices and cautiously try different methods to see what works for you.

One question to ponder: are you thinking that you need to increase your joint mobility, or your flexibility? These are two very different animals, an important point for further discussion.

I would like to know more about joint flexibility and how you train it.

I'd recommend getting the back issue of the Performance Menu which has an article by Greg Everett devoted to this. April 2005 issue 3 is the one you want.

I second that recommendation by Mark. I have only started to stretch in the last couple weeks and have already notice a huge difference. I am by no means a flexible person or an expert on the subject but I do have a few tips:
Actually make a stretch routine. By making one you create some type of structure and basis to follow.
Any stretching is better than no stretching. I stretch about 15 minutes a day right after I do the WOD. It's not much but it's something and I've already seen a major improvement.

I will be posting a separate thread on stretching and joint mobility shortly. I have some e-mail correspondence to share with you, and have just received permission to do so.

I may be the only strange one here who DOES NOT STRETCH! Warming up is good, and I do it when I have time (probably asking for an injury sooner or later), but when I was stretching, I found myself getting injured more -- especially shoulders. I would love to hear some ideas. It seems wrong not to stretch, but stretching has proven counterproductive in my case.
