Dog Icon

I did a search already. I promise. Came up empty.

I'm curious the history behind the "dog" icon that is used on the crossfit boards (upper left tabs, upper left address bar). ---->http://board.crossfit.com/images/cno...bits_start.gif

Is/was this Coach's dog? Curious about the backstory if there is one.

It was a dark, stormy night in the December of '95. Back in those days, Greg Glassman didn't have the following he does now, but he was just as hated.

He was backed up against a wall. Bodybuilders on the right. Aerobics instructors on the left. Rosie O'Donnell across the middle. It was Greg and his 45# bo staff against the world. One of the bodybuilders approached.

"You've been doing this crazy stuff for long enough."

Greg moved not a muscle, and his reply could hardly be heard above the crowd.

"3..."

"We're here to put an end to this - you're done stealing our clients and profits."

"2..."

A jeer came forth from the crowd, "Ooh, is the little man going to stand his ground? All the easier for us if we don't have to run you down."

[Theme song begins] "1..."

"Wait a minute, we don't have an orchestra in this town, do we?"

"Go."

They didn't see him coming. No mortal eye could have. Greg was a streak of lightning, and twice as destructive, taking out as many of them as possible in ten minutes. It wasn't enough, though - his enemies were too many and human energy pathways only last so long. It was only a matter of time before they overwhelmed him.

No one knows for sure why this next event took place, but I believe the answer is quite simply that animals don't know who Arthur Jones is. A brown-spotted dog rushed through the crowd and took his place next to Greg, helping to keep his enemies at bay. They fought their way through the streets and into the countryside, completing their escape with a jump onto a moving train. Greg resolved that he would keep the dog, and together they would confront every difficulty the world would throw at them.

Three hours later, the train came to a stop and they stepped down onto the platform. Greg looked at the sign.

"Santa Cruz, eh? Let's go, buddy."
