You know those stationary radar detectors set up to measure vehicle speed? They're usually set up by the side of the road with a speed limit sign above and the radar-read speed below, like this:

SPEED LIMIT

25

YOUR SPEED IS:

16

Well, if you sprint at these babies at just the right speed and break 10 mph, you get a radar reading. I discovered this last night and I have run far too many sprints since then. My best speed so far is 16 mph. Ben Johnson has nothing to fear, but this is a lot of fun; give it a try if there's one in your neighborhood.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

If I liked sprinting this sounds like fun and a way to get neighbors and drivers looking at you funny!

I'm not IN traffic. I AM traffic. Radar recognizes me, and I'm going fast enough to be in second gear. I must be an automobile. Third gear soon.

If you drive over ~80mph on any freeway near a class B or C airspace, your local ATC (air traffic control) approach radar will pick you up and make a note in the log regarding your primary radar return (they are set to ignore things below ~80mph).

This could also be the beginnings of a live human microwave exposure experiment.

I've been watching the "Tour De Lance" lately and am very impressed with their speeds on those tiny European roads, especially down the mountains on those little half-lane roads the French call "Main Street". If there's a speed limit, they're way over it. Yesterday the peloton averaged over 25mph. AVERAGE. I'd have trouble keeping up on my motorcycle on those roads, never mind a bicycle sitting on a half-inch wide tire.
